The library at Weston Favell Academy is the very heart of the school... in fact, library is no longer a sufficient term to describe the role it plays!

The library is more like the school’s hub for all things reading and literacy.  Our outstanding EAL and literacy intervention classes are based in this space, making it a purposeful space for pupils with additional needs to receive the support they deserve. Above that, what makes our library so special is the long line of pupils waiting to come in and use the space at break and lunch times.  In these recreational periods, it is a safe space to come to: a homework room, a learning resource centre, a meeting place, a board game haven, amongst other things.  All are welcome!

We run afterschool clubs including the ever-popular Dungeons & Dragons club, which relies on creative storytelling, keen wit, and good knowledge of maths.  We also provide support for homework and provide access to Sparx, our online homework platform.  The LRC is open until 4pm nightly (3:30pm on Friday) so it is available to our pupils when they need it most.

We have a great selection of books, and we are in the process of widening our range to accommodate a plethora of interests.  Soon, we will launch our new online library platform to make borrowing even more accessible for all.  We are passionate about reading and welcome everyone through our doors where they can find a place to read, relax and retreat.

Library Opening Hours

• Break time 10:40am - 11:00am
• Lunchtimes 1:00pm -2:10pm (as per Year Group lunch times)
• After school 3:10pm - 4:00pm Monday to Thursday (3:30pm on Friday)
