Human Utopia visit Year 9

Y9 Students take part in Humanutopia

On Wednesday 27th September we welcomed back Humanutopia, this time to work with our Year 9 students. This is the third time that the company has worked with our students. Initially, they worked on developing self-belief and self confidence in students and encouraged them to be themselves and achieve their dreams but this session focused on developing the skills and intelligence they already have and how they can apply those skills both in their academic studies and in their future employment.

The students worked on communication and how important it can be both in school and as they progress through to their working lives. We also looked at taking responsibility for our own actions and being pro-active in achieving the things we want to achieve

The students had a chance to sign up to “the hero’s journey”; a training scheme which enables the students to become young leaders both in school and in their community. Over 90 students from the year group have applied to become a “hero” which means they have volunteered their own time to try and support other students within the academy with all aspects of school life.

It was a great day where Weston Favell Academy students once again showed their amazing confidence and maturity in their interactions both with the company, staff and importantly other pupils.
